The New York Gunman was a reporter

Here's the New York Times:

Police officers chased the gunman, a computer graphics designer named David R. Garvin who had killed a bartender moments earlier, and fatally shot him on Bleecker Street.

NEW YORK Richard Garvin, the gunman who killed two unarmed volunteer police officers and a bartender in Greenwich Viillage yesterday, worked for the Wall Street Journal for five years recently.

Police found a resume on Garvin's computer that listed jobs as a newspaper reporter, stringer and layout editor for The Wall Street Journal and The Mohave Daily News of Bullhead City, Ariz.
