Stephen Colbert, Say It Ain't So

Comedy Central's Stephen Colbert pans O'Reilly (which is not so big a deal, O'Reilly can be a blowhard), but then excuses and promotes DailyKos. Kos proudly links to it here.

I'm surprised at Colbert, who I thought was intelligent...

I agree with Stephen Colbert that the comments at Kos are no better than the average bathroom graffiti.

To his credit, at the very beginning of this bit he's right; there are more important things than military service members voluntarily signing on the dotted line and serving in a war. It's happened plenty of times before. And, guess what, once you filter out all the negative garbage that CNN and MSNBC has to say about Iraq, and given how hard it is to find anything positive about Iraq in what the AP and Reuters have to say, there's not much you can do but talk to your embedded reports. So Colbert's facts are right. His interpretation, however, is a load of crap.

Spc Steven J. AlXXXX, US Army, my credentials? two years of getting shot at, mortared, IED'd, RPG'd, two Army Commendations, Iraqi Campaign Medal, GWOT Expeditionary medal.
