Shots fired across Israeli/Lebanese Border

United Press International:

TEL AVIV, Israel, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- Israeli and Lebanese troops traded fire overnight in the most serious border incident since last summer's war.

The incident occurred after an Israeli armored bulldozer entered the area between Israel's electronic border fence and the international border, where in some areas it is 60 meters wide.

Israel sent bulldozer there to level the area and remove mines after soldiers Monday found four mines north of the border fence and detonated them. Israel said they were in its area and believed Hezbollah had recently planted them. The U.N. International Force in Lebanon said they were north and that it was impossible to determine when they were planted.
