Iranian Fakes

Little Green Footballs nails the Iran Fars news agency's bogus claims of US weapons in Iran.

Embarrassing for Iranians who thought this would be a "slam dunk"

More embarassing for the L.A. Times, which swallowed the story whole [Iran alleges U.S. link to militant attack].

Unsurprisingly, Al Jazeera.com also regurgitated the false claim.

Citing “informed source”, the semi-official Fars news agency reported on Saturday that the explosive devices and arsenals used in the recent wave of explosions that hit the southeastern Iranian city of Zahedan starting Wednesday came from the United States.

No doubt, the "informed source" is President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, or one of his ministers.

Emile Tayyip, of the Centre for research on Globalization (Who does their shoddy research, and are they a front group for terrorists?) also publicized the claim with certitude.

What's the over/under on whether a retraction will be published?
