Troop Equipment Shortages

Delaware Senator Joe Biden recently wrote a letter to Secretary of Defense Robert Gates about equipment shortages to our troops, particularly Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles.

Biden strongly suggested that the DOD was not doing its job, and woefully disregarding the safety of our troops.

While Biden clearly intends to cast a critical light on the political leadership, namely the Bush administration, U.S. troops have a different perspective on the time lag: "Civilian middle management lacks technical and operational currency."

Lastly, I wonder if Biden appreciates the irony; decrying funding and supplies for our troops, when he voted to cut off troop funding last month. The same Joe Biden who said we need more troops in Iraq, and then criticized the need for Bush's surge.

Hypocrite.
