The Price of Peace

There have been promising signs of progress in Iraq over the past few months, most notably the vast reduction of violence in Anbar province.

Now Gateway Pundit also notes that Shiite & Sunni Clerics Unite in Baghdad Against Violence

However, efforts to achieve calm in Baghdad can also involve some murky dealings, as Hot Air writes that U.S. troops begin joint patrols of Baghdad area with … Sunni insurgents.

Yet, to listen to Think Progress tell it, even the notion of progress is absurd - even coming from the General on the ground.

Our options may be limited in the region, and extending the olive branch to insurgents may prove successful, but it's an unfortunate sign of desperation... almost a form of amnesty.
